Influenster #MKGlam VoxBox Review
My #MKGlam look
I was chosen by Influenster to receive and test a #MKGlam VoxBox. I had never used any Mary Kay products before but had many positive comments about their products. So I was super excited to see how Mary Kay would work for me.
My #MKGlam VoxBox contained some really nice things. First, I got a full sized translucent powder that is suppose to be applied over foundation and helps to control excess oil while setting your makeup for a flawless look on any skin tone. I also got a really nice powder blush for application as well. I have to say that I like the powder but I wished that Influenster would have included foundation in our VoxBox. I feel that if you have a good foundation that it helps bring out the best in the rest of the beauty products that you're wearing.
Next, in my VoxBox, was bronzing powder and a mineral blush in a beautiful shy blush color. The bronzing powder is amazing. I love that it actually makes my face looked tan not orange like many bronzers on the market. Furthermore, just a little bit of this goes a long way. I suggest buying a bronzer brush. Bronzer brushes have more bristles and they're packed tightly together so you get more color with each swipe. The blush I received is a great pink color perfect for giving my cheeks that great rosy look.
So now on to the eyes. My #MKGlam VoxBox had 4 awesome eye products. I received a cream eyeshadow and applicator, gel eyeliner, and mascara. So first I will start with the eyeshadow. Surprisingly, I had never tried a cream eyeshadow before so I first tried using my fingers. Ok lets just say that was a failure. I am so glad that Influenster included a eyeshadow applicator specifically designed for this type of shadows. Another tip, don't smear the cream on your eyelid. Dab the color starting from the inside of your eye to the outside of your eyelid. I also highly recommend a eyeshadow primer. This will help to prevent creasing. The primer also places a barrier between the skin, preventing any natural oils from breaking down the product, thus reducing the fading of your eyeshadow color. Furthermore, because it is a cream product, I finish with a light dusting of translucent powder just to help seal the eyecream. Next, upis the gel eyeliner which I received in jet black. Again this was a first for me because one I have never wore a black eyeliner and secondly because I had never tried a gel eyeliner. I am a natural kind of girl and have always used a brown eyeliner pencil. I wasn't for sure how I was going to like this product but I instantly fell in love with it. I will say it took me several times before I got the hang of using a gel eyeliner but once I did I loved the results. Several tips that I found helpful are 1. Lightly dampen the brush which help ensure that the bristles stay aligned during throughout the application process. 2. When adding liner to the brush, fully coat the bristles an then wipe off any excess. I think the second point is key because you will have a huge mess if you get to much gel on your brush. Just a dab of this goes a long way. Next I want to tell you about the mascara I received called Mary Kay Love Lash. All I can say about this amazing product is WOW. My lashes were instantly longer and thicker looking. I absolutely love this mascara. I have gotten several compliments on how great they look.
Finally, the last product that I received was a lip gloss in the color Mango Tango. The best way I can describe this color is a bright red orange. Now I have to admit that I am not a fan of lip gloss because I find them to be sticky. Living in Oklahoma with lots of wind don't go hand in hand with sticky lip gloss because you are constantly pulling your hair off your lips. However, this lip gloss wasn't sticky like most other products that I have used. I also have to admit that when I first saw this color I didn't like it. I usually wear pinks and plums. What I found with this particular color is that you can wear it bold or you can soften it by blotting it. I was surprised how good it looked on me. I had several people compliment on my lips.
Overall I really enjoyed the #MKGlam VoxBox that I received compliments of Influenster for testing and review purposes. I have actually found a Mary Kay consultant that is helping me find some other products. If you haven't tried their products, I highly recommend giving them a try.
